How to use rednote: posting, profile editing, and direct messaging

1/18/2025

RedNote is a social platform that allows users to share content, manage personal information, and interact with others. Below are the detailed steps to help you get started quickly.

1. Where to Download RedNote?

You can download RedNote from Google Play or the Apple App Store. If you can't find it, click here to download

2. Register and Log in to RedNote

RedNote offers four login options: WeChat, Facebook, Google, and Phone number login. While you can choose any of these, it's recommended to log in with your phone number since many features later on will require you to bind your phone number, making the process more convenient.

3. How to Post Content?

Once logged in, you can start posting:

  • Click the red “+” button at the bottom of the screen to create a new post.
  • RedNote supports posting videos, images, and live content, but does not allow pure text posts. If you want to share a thought, you must include an image or video.
  • After editing, you can add relevant tags, such as: #Food.
  • Before publishing, you can choose who can view your post. Click on the “Visible to All” section to see more options:

    -Hide from specific people

-Only allow certain people to view

    -Only visible to mutual followers

    -Visible only to yourself

  • Once you’re done, click “Publish.”

It’s important to note that once a post is published, you can modify its content, including its visibility settings. There's no need to delete and repost; you can simply update your existing post.

4. How to Edit Your Profile?

  • Click on "Me" at the bottom, then select "Profile" to enter the profile editing page.
  • Here, you can modify your avatar, nickname, and other information.
  • There’s an important section called “RedNote ID,” which is your unique user ID. This can only be changed once, so be sure to proceed with caution when modifying it.

5. How to Send Direct Messages?

  • Visit a user's profile, and you will see a message icon. Click it to start a private conversation.
  • Keep in mind that you can only send one message before the other person responds. If you find you're unable to send a message, it might be due to the other person’s privacy settings.

With these steps, you can now freely post content, manage your profile, and engage in private conversations on RedNote. Enjoy sharing and interacting!
